A new ocean quiz has now been played two million times
An online quiz about ocean tides, currents and sea creatures has now been played more than two million times since it launched six months ago, making it one of the most popular classroom quizzes teachers have added this year.
Every wrong answer unlocks one more fact about the sea instead of just marking the question wrong, so players learn what a currentcurrenta steady flow of water moving in one direction actually is even when they guess incorrectly.
The quiz was built by two marine biology students who wanted something their younger cousins would actually finish, rather than a worksheet nobody reads past question three.
The most-missed question by far asks how deep sunlight can reach into open ocean water — only one in five players gets it right on the first try.
